Program Note: The word Pentimento refers to a painter's term for an underlying image or draft that shows through the painting usually when the top layer of paint has become transparent with age. This sheds light on the mystery of the creative process revealing the artist's journey to the finished product. Pentimento (2001) for Piano Quintet is driven by this idea that the evolution of a work from inspiration to completion can become visible to an audience.
